About Karin
In October 2005, I started searching for a suitable cat for my family (myself, my husband, and 4 sons). Amongst other things, I browsed the internet for all the information I could find. Soon enough, I ended up on Linda van Mechelen’s Cattery Major Tess website and read about the Pixiebob. It immediately captured my interest. The more information I gathered about the Pixiebob, the more enthousiastic I became about this breed. Their personality (sweet, friendly and calm, but still unique) and the build and appearance of the Pixiebob (strong, wild and lynx-like) appealed to me from the very start. I quickly seeked contact with Linda, who was at the time the only Pixiebob breeder in the Netherlands, and was invited to come and observe her kittens. I was very well and honestly informed by her about the breed, and before long we became good friends.
Me and my family were instantly crazy about Linda’s kittens and, luckily for us, there were still two for sale. We quickly decided to buy our first Pixiebob, Charlie. On December 3, 2005, Charlie moved into our home and we haven’t regretted it since: she is sweet, beautiful, intelligent, unique, playful, healthy, and adapted very quickly to our home. We are all crazy about her.
On August 6, 2006, Neo joined our family as well. He is our first male cat and was also born at Linda’s Cattery. Neo already weighs more than 6 kilograms and is still growing: Pixiebobs continue to grow until they are three years old. Neo is very sweet for us and our other pets. Just like Charlie, we bought Neo as a house pet, which means that both cats are sterilized and castrated.
In the meantime, I developed such a fondness for this breed that I decided to start up a small hobby-driven cattery. In this way, I hope to contribute to the availability of this beautiful breed in The Netherlands and the rest of Europe. My goal is to breed Pixiebobs that have excellent qualities, both on the inside and the outside.
On April 18, 2008, Juno was transported all the way from the United States to come live with us. She is from the Black Creek Bobis Cattery in the U.S. and is our first breeding female (Thank you, Clarice, for this beautiful lady!). She is a sweetheart and is also exceptionally beautiful, besides being a very kind and caring mother to her kittens.
