“Iets meer dan een jaar geleden had ik nog nooit van een Pixie Bob gehoord. Mijn 1e York Joffie ( 15 1/2) was in Nov. 2007 overleden, had nu alleen Ramses nog (York 2 van 11 jaar). In principe ging het in z’n eentje ook goed maar toch! Aangezien ik full -time werk was een puppie [...]

Very bad news!
I’m so sorry I have to tell you that we lost all the kittens of Pippa. Last Thursday the first kitten could not breath normal any more. Instantly I went to the vet with Pippa and her kittens. I got nosedrops and the advice to feed him extra. After some hours his lungs were full of fluid and he could hardly breath. We decided to put him to sleep. The next 2 days the other 3 followed their little brother. It’s so heartbreaking to let all your kittens go, but I also know that live goes on and fortunately all other cats are healthy and not sick.
Why did they perish this quick? A possible explanation is that they got a virus (herpes?), but not enough antibodies from Pippa to prevend them from getting this sick. Pippa was never sick, she was only sneeezing a little bit after deliver the kittens. She was possible the one with the virus, in spite that she was up to date with her vaccinations.
Nature won this time and this can happen in every cattery.

Pippa movie!
Pippa is almost ready to give birth. She is resting a lot and the kittens are moving a lot in her big belly. I just made a movie of her belly, you can see the kittens move inside.

The last months I was very busy, I had a holiday, so finally an update of my cattery. Thank you all for your patience!
Neo and Charlie are doing great! Emmy is going to be a big girl, she is very sweet and she loves to cuddle. Pippa is going to be a first time mom in about a week from our male Monty. The kittens will be born around August 10th. Pippa is all over the place looking for a place to give birth except the box I gave her to deliver in. Finally all will be fine.
Ronja has been in heat for a couple of times and I decided to bring her to Monty too. I’ll keep you posted about her developments.

Kittens 11 weeks old
Kittens 11 weeks old! The two kittens of Ronja, Mila and Emmy, are growing very fast. They are big girls. They were under evaluation, because I want to keep one of them for my breedingprogram. I decided to let Mila go, that’s why she is available for a forever loving home (not as a breeder) at May 15th. If you are interested in this beautiful girl, just contact me. She has long hair, straight feet and a bob tail. She already has been chipped, had her vaccinations and has showquality. She is very sweet and not afraid of anything.

The kittens of Ronja are growing very fast! The kitten that was born first grows more fast than kitten 2 that was born 16 hours after kitten 1. But both are gaining weight every day. Both of them are moving more and more and they even are going to play with each other and Ronja. So very cute! Yesterday the eyes of kitten 1 fully opened and today the eyes of kitten 2 are starting to open up. Today I made some new photo’s of the three of them and placed them all on my site. So every one can enjoy them with me. Because I like to watch them grow and play etc. every day. And Ronja is such a sweet mom. She is protecting her kittens in a very defencive way. I hope I can introduce the kittens into my group of cats while Ronja will give her aproval. I’ll keep you posted!

On february 8th Ronja gave birth to two beautiful kittens!
Yesterday february 8th Ronja gave birth to two beautiful kittens. Sadly it was not a normal delivery, but mother and kittens are doing well. They are two females, kitten 1 has a medium coat, a threequarter/long tail and straight feet en was born 7.15 AM. Kitten 2 has a medium coat, a short tail with a kink at the base and straight and was born 10.58 PM. At the beginning the delivery was easy and after a couple of contractions kitten 1 was born (tail and hindlegs first, this was a breech birth). For Ronja no problem to deliver.
Then the waiting began. My vet thought that Ronja had 3-4 kittens with her, so there had to be born some more. But I was waiting until the afternoon and nothing was born. There was a lot of movement inside Ronja’s belly, but there weren’t any contractions. At 3.30 PM my vet came and after inspecting and manupilating Ronja, she told me there were more kittens, but they were vey high in the womb. To be sure she left a couple of oxytocine-shots (to stimulate contractions) behind. At 7.00 PM I talked with my vet on the phone and we decided I would gave Ronja the firts shot. I did not work at all. We decided to wait and see what will happen.
At 9.00PM I was phoned by my vet and she told me she talked to a professor at the University of Utrecht and she adviced to give another shot. When this shot didn’t work Ronja would have to deliver by C-section before midnight. At 10.30 PM I went with my husband, Ronja and kitten 1 to the vet’s clinic for the C-section.
After making a X-ray, we discovered that there was one kittenleft in the belly of Ronja. We were very surprised, because we expected more than one kitten. At 10.58 PM Ronja gave birth to kitten 2. Luckily this was just on time, the kitten had been defecated in the womb. I liked it very much that my husband and I could witness the C-section, so I could take over the last kitten and take care of it. Thanks to my vet Renee Burger (and assistant) for the great help, guidance and right procedure! Ronja was doing great and she is a fantastic mom. She protects her kittens with her life, but I can be close with her and the kittens, that’s so special. She is such a sweetheart!
